3:01pm: Christensen tweets that the Indians are outbidding Minnesota for Hudson, though he's skeptical considering Cleveland's lack of spending this offseason.

12:32pm: MLB.com's Bill Ladson tweets that Hudson will not play for the Nationals, and a deal is almost done with the Twins. Meanwhile ESPN's Buster Olney and Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune both seem to believe the Indians are still in the mix (links go to Twitter).

11:59am: The Twins have "intensified their pursuit" of Orlando Hudson, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The writers believe Hudson is likely to find a team this week, though the free agent second baseman is still asking for at least $6MM on a one-year deal.

Rosenthal and Morosi say the Nationals are not a clear frontrunner for Hudson, who could be swayed by the Twins' status as a contender. The Indians are seen as the least likely of the three suitors.

Some tweets:
washingnats The baseball source told me that a deal is almost done between 2B Orlando Hudson and the #Twins.

Buster_ESPN Wrote earlier in the week that the Twins were very serious about Hudson talks -- and now it looks like a choice between Minn. and Cleveland.

Its official:

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins spent all winter looking for an upgrade at either second base or third base, and now they have one.

The club announced late Thursday night that they had agreed to terms with second baseman Orlando Hudson on a one-year, $5 million contract.

The addition of Hudson, a four-time Gold Glove Award winner, will give the Twins a solid defensive presence at second base, and he will also give the club an ideal fit in the No. 2 spot of the batting order.

Hudson, 32, batted .283 last season for the Dodgers, with nine home runs, 62 RBIs and a .357 on-base percentage. He also was the National League Gold Glove winner at second base.

"He's a proven player," Twins general manager Bill Smith said. "He's been an All-Star. He's a four-time Gold Glove winner, and we're excited to have him in this organization and he's going to help make us a better team."

This is starting to look like a pretty good lineup top to bottom. I'm sure Hudson will appreciate hitting in front of the two MVPs.

Love the O-Dog. He was a solid role player for the Dodgers as starting 2B this year and a great clubhouse guy. O-Dog and Hardy - nice upgrade to weaknesses by Smith.
