Not a bad article.
I think the mets are still in the Santana sweepstakes, though perhaps with an outside chance, or perhaps looking at a 3 team swap to sweeten the deal for Mini.
And it is an interesting question - mets go from "Team most likely to go to the world series" to "2nd best in the division, and not sure they're better than Atlanta" - with basically the same roster/same talent pool.
I think it's worth pointing out that this team, right now - might be good enough to win more games than any other team in the east - even with no trades / no major signings. So, while I'd love to see a move, I think it's too early to panic.
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.
Double standard?

That bothers me. OK, yes, this team blew up as bad as any blowup in the history of baseball last year. It was devistating.
But Maine & Perez are great for what they are - rotation pitchers, dirt cheap, good for 14 wins a season. We get rid of them (or shake their confidence with boos) - then we're sunk. This team wouldn't win 80 games without Maine & Perez. They aren't #1 or #2 starters and we shouldn't expect them to be - but at #3 & #4 - they did their jobs better than can be expected.
I'm not sure who to blame for the terrible loosing end of last year. It was a team effort. Seemed that only David Wright played well.
