Mets sign Tony Armas Jr - minor league contract

Hard to imagine this guy out pitching Sosa should we need to go that deep in the rotation, but it's good to have an extra arm.

The Mets added some versatility to their pitching staff Monday by signing the veteran right-hander Tony Armas Jr. to a minor league contract. Armas, 29, pitched in relief and as a starter for the Pirates last season, going 4-5 with 6.03 E.R.A. in 31 games (15 starts).
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.

Double standard?

I guess if anyone knows what Armas can really bring to the table its Minaya. I never have a problem giving players minor league contracts when they have had success in the past. [Insert the rant about how Peterson can make him good again]

The more I think about it, the more I think that Armas could see some starts this year. He's our 2nd replacement in the starting lineup.

Pelfrey's 1st, but after Pelfrey there's not much out there.

Brian Lawrence? - is he still with the team?
Sosa - maybe, cause our pen is deep and he gave us some starts last year, but I think Willie / Ricky like Sosa as the long relief guy.

after that - who do we go to - Bostick? Vargas is hurt - not sure when he's due back. Weiss - too green.

or make a trade?

Armas could see some starts this year. I wouldn't be surprised. I'm glad we signed him.
