Register placed on waivers
Reliever Steven Register was placed on waivers by the Mets.

I think the Mets plan is to hope that Register and Gotay both clear waivers, and I don't see why it cant happen. Register had a 4.00era closing in AA last year... let me repeat that for you guys, 4.00ERA closing in the minors. Sure hes had a good spring training, but anyone can perform well in spring and fall apart once the season starts.
Plus, Wise has looked very very good in the pen.
Gotay is still an incomplete player. He is injured which is another incentive for teams to pass him up. I think as they say, he is out of "options" so if he doesn't make the team, Mets lose his rights unless no one picks him up.
If Willie wants to be consistent, I can bleed through a few Brian Stokes starts before I begin to seriously panic about the 5th starter. I would rather keep Sosa in the pen, he is stronger in doses... once teams figure him out, hes a fish without water, and he'll get exposed, just like last year if we keep him in the rotation.
