We Need Roy Oswalt
This team is defintely going to make the playoffs. Most likely will win the NL East, and possibly make it to the World Series. (you never know, the whole cardinals thing was a fluke). The thing the mets need to do, to get over the hump, from a "very good" to "great" team is Roy Oswalt. He is the most underrated pitcher in the MLB, and will solidfy this rotation. He will add expericence, give us a true ace for years to come, and give us a SCARY rotation for the playoffs.
To get him I would trade:
Lastings Milledge (love the guy, but we have Gomez/Martinez)
Aaron Heilman (Mota can replace him. Pudilla may also come back?)
Phillip Humber or Pelfrey (with Oswalt, he's not as needed)
This makes sense for both teams, as the 'stros get two starting pitchers, one possibly a future #2,3. And another who can help the bullpen, or be a SP in the NL central. They also get a future all-star in Milledge, and they NEED offense. And this can let LM play his natural position in CF.
Mets rotation going in Oct being: Roy Oswalt, Tom Glavine, Pedro Martinez, John Maine, Oliver Perez. that's GREAT (espically since we really only need 3-4 of the guys starting). This leaves our pen with Perez, Duque, Mota, Smith, Sele, Felicano, Wagner. Our lineup will be the same.
Omar go get this guy NOW!

I like it. I'd perfer Dontrelle Willis & Carlos Zambrano over Oswalt but I'd go for your deal too.

oswalt's very underrated. he's just as good as santana. if i were the mets, i'd even consider giving up gomez and keeping milledge (i'm not done on this guy yet. he as great talent), and pelfrey and heilman. that should be enough. the 'stros have talked about trading him this year, and they will get 1 guy w/ potential to be a ace, another guy who can either RP or start, and someone with great tools. i can't see why the 'stros wouldn't say yes.

Oswalt is nowhere near as good as Santana, nor is he underrated. If anything, he

Oswalt is a top 5 pitcher in the majors, neither Zambrano or Willis are top 10.

There is not a chance that Oswalt is as good as Santana, and im buying what Basketball Jesus is selling that he is somewhat overrated.
Last year that deal would have been sweet for us, however at the end of the day Houston thought there pitching would carry them and Baltimore couldnt trade away there star player.

Satana also started off as a reliever you got to account that in. Plus Lefty > Righty...
