Wow Fernando Martinez is really heating up now. He's already in AA, doing very well, yet he's soooo young. I can't ever remember when the Mets were this stocked with so much offensive talent in the minors. Our opening day lineup in 2009 at the new ballpark is going to be sick.

GM Omar Minaya met the team here in Miami after spending the previous few days in the Dominican Republic where the Mets broke ground on a new baseball academy. The GM also did some scouting.

Update on mets prospects. Pelfrey slider - May 25th article.

Pelfrey made the Mets out of spring training, got a warm-up start for high Class A St. Lucie and joined the big club when it needed a fifth starter April 13. Six winless starts later, Pelfrey was optioned to Triple-A with one objective: to gain command of his secondary stuff, which was noticeably lacking in New York. Back on the farm, Pelfrey had allowed just a pair of runs in his first two starts for New Orleans.
