The Gold Glove Award is mainly political, Beltran's NOT even the best CF in our own division. He's not even the best OF on the Mets for that matter -- Endy Chavez & Carlos Gomez are better. How many balls drop in front of Beltran because he plays so damn deep? How many times does he turn the wrong way on line drives to center like tonight? We should have won this game.

LOL @ chavez/gomez being better than beltran.

we barly saw gomez play and you think he's better then beltran.

and every logical fan knows endy is NOT a every day player. the guy is great off the bench, but is terrible when used everyday.

last year beltran was 5th in zone rating. 2nd in the NL (behind juan pierre). beltran was third in range factor.

to say beltran isn't good DEF is a absolute joke. is this the first met game you have ever watched? yeah that was a bad play, but vs the astros he SAVED us the game. it just goes to show you how things even out in the course of the season.

btw. beltran > rowand, jones, etc. and espicaly chavez/gomez. LOL

Beltran is not better than Andrew Jones in the field -- that's a joke. I've seen enough of Gomez to know he has a better arm, more speed and covers more ground in the outfield than Beltran. Beltran is above average because of his fielding pct etc. but his range sucks. Pay attention to how deep he plays and all the pop fly's that fall in front of him that don't effect his stats. Beltran plays deep because he's TERRIBLE going back on balls -- just like last night. In regards to Endy Chavez not being an everyday player, I agree, however, that's only because of his hitting. His defense IS everyday. Willie Randolph always says Endy is our best outfielder and he's correct on that point.

is range is incredible, but he does allow a lot of balls drop in front of him, but whatever, he always seems to make the big catch, ex-in houston this year, and the game last year with wagner pitching when he flew into the fence

beltran makes plays a lot of plays other plays don't make. just because he isn't the VERY BEST CF doesn't make him "overrated."
