Sizing Up Met Staff For Stretch Run

Post#1 » by K_ick_God » Tue Sep 4, 2007 5:27 pm

All of a sudden the Mets pitching is looking sturdy if not abundant:

Glavine
Ollie
Maine
Pedro
El Duque
-------------------
Pelfrey

Playoff rotation will be a tough one to figure. Do you put El Duque in the pen, how can you? No way Glavine doesn

I agree. Although Duque is arguably the best suited for the pen because of experience, he's been too valuable as a starter this year.

I would probably put Maine or el duque in the pen in the playoffs.

glavine gets the nod only because of his seniority. maine and duque in the pen arent bad because they and strike people out, and dont have too many base runners.

glavine always has baserunners, he wins by getting outs. ollie... well... is ollie.

its probably

glav pedro ollie

I know he's been good this year but I'd put El Duque in the pen. Mets need a righty set-up man and he's clutch. He did it for White Sox and helped them win the WS. The other guy I'd consider is Ollie since he can pitch on adrenaline and could be lights out for a few batters.

To me, Maine is a starter all the way and should make playoff starts.

I guess Duaner is definitely not coming back this season?

Duaner is no where next to returning and I dont even think he'll be a Met again.

El Duque or Maine for the pen, Perez could come in and strike 3 out or come in and walk 3 batters. Too eratic, he'll start.

Ollie Perez will go to the pen, we need another lefty out there -- Showiensucks can't be trusted.

I agree. I could definitely live with Pedro, Glavine, Puque, and Maine in the playoffs. Though these last few weeks should be an audition for everyone (but really, if healthy, Pedro and Tommy are locks for the postseason starting rotation)...
