More wins and more decisions (L's) than I expected. ERA under 4 makes the year look better but his ERA was considerably worse than most predicted.

Still, he's still relatively young, he seems to have heart, throws a rising fastball, and his ball just moves a lot. Maine is a keeper. A middle-of-the-rotation guy WITH SOMETHING EXTRA. Bulldog mentality and lively arm.

*BIG asterisk: Gets 14 K, a near no-hitter, and turns in the best outing of the year for any starter ... just when his team needs it desperately.

Its a shame because after the all-star break he was really struggling, he should have been better then that record. Anyway he has shown he can be an effective starter for us.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Remember this is Maine's first season as a starter in the big leagues. He's only 26, he's going to be a great pitcher for us for years to come. Just think about how far his secondary stuff has come along. He has a bright future for this franchise.

Buddy Hield / Timothy Luwawu / Stanley Johnson
Kendrick Nunn / Matisse Thybulle / Darius Miller
RJ Barrett / Kyle Kuzma / Dwayne Bacon

If he learns how to keep his focus and mechanics straight, he'll be a 20 game winner. I could see him being a #1 in the rotation one day. That performance he gave today was Gooden-esq.

Definitely. Plus he's young, and durable. With him it's all psychological.
