Jerry Manuel said he won't use Sheffield in the starting lineup until Friday against the Yankees because of his ailing right knee.

Gah, we got punked tonight. Good series win against the Cards though. We're holding on, barely. I think we still need some reinforcements.

Does anyone else think Nick Evans deserves a chance at LF? He was hitting .400 with 1 HR and 4 RBI as 1B in the past 4 games that he was in. Now that Murphy's back, I think he should be moved to LF.

K-Rod just walked Rivera. Rivera gets his first career RBI.
We suck. :(

This is just awful. We're falling out of the race. Injuries or not, there's no excuse for missing the playoffs again this year. The buck will stop with you, Omar. Do something...

Yeesh. We stink. The end.

The time to bust this team up may be close at hand. I'm starting to feel like we should be sellers around the deadline. I like Omar, and think he's a good GM. But someone has to pay for what's happened the past few seasons. You can only 'fire' the manager and players so much. At some point, the buck has to stop with Omar. We've heard the same tired excuses every year, injury here and there, this one's having a down year, no one's stepping up, blah, blah, blah. It's about results. And if we miss the playoffs again, Omar's head has to roll. This baloney about not making any moves to shore up the team because no one out there can help the team is a bunch of bunk. No one even knows when the injured are coming back. We're not going to make up five games on the Phils with how this team has done over the past few seasons. And there are too many teams ahead of us in the Wild Card.

Okay, it's just about time to throw in the towel. We might be done by the weekend. What a disastrous season...

<channels Kenny the Jet>

It's ova!

Time to start preparing for next season. We need to start busting up this team already. New Shea's inaugural season, a huge failure. Heads need to roll...

Add Nieve to the injury list. Maybe this team is out of luck or maybe there's one too many sissies on this team.

You guys ready for our new franchise infielder? :D

20th July, 2009 - 5:20 pm
New York Post - The injury bug has hit the Mets so hard that manager Jerry Manuel mentioned using Livan Hernandez as an option as first or third base.

"He's a guy that we feel, if need be, could possibly do that," Manuel said of Hernandez being a fill-in fielder.

Hernandez has a career .229 average, and could also be used as a pinch-hitter.

Jerry's just getting too loopy, even for his own good. He might be starting to lose it... on the day he gets the dreaded 'vote of confidence' from the owners. The Kiss of Death? Omar needs to take a big hit here too. Screw that extension. We have the highest payroll in our league... and we're a fourth place team in our own division. Unacceptable.

Young players, laid back rookie manager (willie), and a old clown pitcher with more mouth then innings pitched (pedro). I think this has left a poor attitude behind. To much clowning and goofing and not enough winning. Its become acceptable. Until someone changes that atmosphere our present is our reality. Sissies. Yes sissies because no one will stand up and lead. Watch, everyone will comeback from injury and try and make a run. But that episode is a rerun. And that show should be canceled.
