NY Mets' Wright sidelined with stress fracture in back

Post#1 » by Go76ersGo » Tue May 17, 2011 4:58 am

(Reuters) - New York Mets' third baseman David Wright has been sidelined indefinitely with a stress fracture in his back.

Wright sustained the injury on April 19, but continued to play with what he described as just discomfort. He underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed the extent of the injury.

"I was being counted on to help this team win games, now I'm not going to be able to do that for two weeks," Wright told the team's website (newyork.mets.mlb.com).

Wright is now playing in St. Lucie in rehab games. He hit a double yesterday and stole a base today. He seems to feel fine and he could be back within a week or 2.

Wright had a great game back yesterday hitting 2 doubles and driving in the game winning run. He looked healthy and had a nice swing. Good to see and you can see him in the lineup with Reyes and Beltran all healthy, they can make a very potent offense.
