I thought he had a shot last year except he slumped down the stretch. I mean, best player on the best team argument was in the works for him. The thing is he hit .224 at Shea last year.
As for the thread, yeah its early, yeah it could easily die if he does not produce. Anyway, I'll update it periodically; any highlights or suggestions are welcome

Quoted for F'n Truth!!
If you don't hit 50 homers you can't win MVP anymore. Just a sad sad truth.

Meh, I think Jose has a good shot this season, even if he doesn't hit 30+ homers. His impact on our club is undeniable. Most baseball pundits agree, he's the most exciting player in the game. And if we do well and make the postseason, I think they'll properly attribute our success directly to him.
And can I make one request of Beltran? Can he please change that freakin' intro song already? I am so SICK of hearing it already (says the guy with the same avi for five years)...

You might be mistaken their a little. Reyes has probably the best shot of any Met to win the MVP. Remember when Ichiro won the award in the AL of all leagues to win it with all the big boppers they have in that league. Reyes brings to the table all the tools for an MVP. He's the engine of the Mets, without him I can't see you guys winning alot of games. He does some many things to change a game IMO thats what an MVP is about, not hitting 50 hr's all though it helps but without the guys in front of Howard and Pujols getting on those guys end the season with 50-60 RBI from hitting nothing but solo shots. So give him a little bit more faith than that. If I had to pick an MVP, honestly speaking it would be him right now.

i really really want reyes to win. he might even get 100 rbis at leadoff this year but its so hard to win it when you dont hit alotta home runs
