Pelfrey sent down, Carlos Gomez called up!

Looks like Sosa is now the man for the 5th starters spot once El Duque comes back. Fine with me, Sosa has pitched great while Pelfrey can't seem to get his mental problems straightened out.

Carlos Gomez fills in for a banged up Moises Alou. I'm really looking forward to seeing this kid play.

EDIT:Carlos Gomez had 17 sb's in the minors this season. :o

And he's in the starting lineup today!

Gomez called up? :o :o '

Man, the Mets are really aggresive with their prospects.

That being said, I think his performance will warrant him staying with the Mets, provided there is enough space on the Mets 25 man roster for him. You look at his minor league career and you see that every level he has been at, he's conquered it. He hasn't repeated any levels either, and he's only 21.

Even though I am a Yankee fan, I just love seeing new prospects come up... especially high ceiling prospects like Gomez.

I'm going to watch this kid carefully and I agree seeing kids come up is what it is about, Gomez has unbelievable speed , he has to hit though and it will be for a few games so it's like dangling the ML carrot infront of him, I wish him big time luck.

I don't know what's wrong with Pelfrey man, and I'm not giving him up considering he's only 23 and has a live fastball. Who knows, he might find a nitch in the BP since most relievers are failed starters.

I'm in LOVE with speed and defense. If Alou and Green didn't play another game for the Mets, I would be loving an OF of Beltran, Chavez and Gomez for the rest of this season. Then next year an OF of Beltran, Gomez and Martinez! Wow!

It feels great to have outfield defense that can get to every ball. Nothing is dropping in with those 3 out there.

He got very little run support.

Last year Trax was someting like 15-10 with a 5.something era

Pelf is 0-5 with a 6. something era - really, he might be 2-3 if he'd gotten better hitting.

His start was disapointing, but it's not awful - at least, that's how I look at it.

Vargas is the frontrunner to get Pelf's next start.

Might as well let anyone besides Pelfrey get a chance to start I guess.
