Tuesday, May 29
Shea Stadium | 7:10 PM ET
Tim Lincecum, RHP (2-0, 3.08) Giants (24-25)
@
Oliver Perez, LHP (6-3, 2.54) Mets (32-17)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Lincecum was more effective than spectacular in his last outing -- which is to say that he was extremely good. He worked eight innings, his longest Major League stint yet, while allowing two runs and five hits in the Giants' 4-2 victory over Houston last Tuesday. Instead of simply overpowering hitters, Lincecum, who struck out four, forced the Astros to hit his pitch as he induced 15 ground-ball outs. Opponents are batting a mere .202 off Lincecum, who will have two extra days of rest due to a pair of scheduled off-days.
Mets: Paul Lo Duca says of Perez: "He's become a monster" Perez has won three straight starts, allowing merely three runs, 11 hits and six walks over 23 innings. His ERA in those games is 1.17. His lone loss in April was to the Giants. The Mets defense betrayed him in that game, but he also didn't stop the bleeding.
Wednesday, May 30
Shea Stadium | 7:10 PM ET
Barry Zito, LHP (4-5, 4.70) Giants (24-25)
@
Tom Glavine, LHP (5-2, 3.39) Mets (32-17)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Zito redeemed himself in his start on Wednesday by lasting seven innings and allowing only one run on four hits. He earned the win and completed the Giants' sweep of the Astros. Zito beat the Mets in his last start against them, giving up three earned runs in six innings, and he will enter Wednesday's start in New York with six days' rest.
Mets: Glavine suffered a tough-luck loss in his previous start, getting outdueled, 2-1, by former teammate John Smoltz. Still, the veteran left-hander has been one of the league's most consistent pitchers this season -- he's allowed four runs or fewer in each of his 11 starts. He beat the Giants earlier this season with a seven-inning, one-run performance.
Thursday, May 31
Shea Stadium | 7:10 PM ET
Matt Cain, RHP (2-4, 3.23) Giants (24-25)
@
Orlando Hernandez, RHP (2-1, 2.13) Mets (32-17)
Scouting Report:
Giatns: Cain has had a hard time earning wins this season, but he's throwing good games. In his last start, Cain held the Rockies to one hit in the first five innings and exited with the lead in the sixth after allowing two runs but was left with no decision. When Cain faced the Mets earlier this season he allowed four earned runs on 10 hits in seven innings.
Mets: Hernandez, who has been on the disabled list seven times in his career, hopes to be able to make his second straight start in this game after returning from injury on Friday. Hernandez was masterful in throwing six shutout innings against the Marlins. He allowed just two hits and walked none. Better yet, Hernandez reported feeling fine the next day. Of course, Hernandez seems to thrive on pitching in Miami, his offseason home. He's unbeaten there, though this game will be at Shea Stadium.

Should be a GREAT pitching matchup on Tuesday. Lincecum is nasty. Thank God Delgado is starting to hit better because we're going to need him in this game. Also, I heard on WFAN that Barroid will sit out Tuesday against Perez.
Anybody heard any news on LoDuca? He left Saturdays game. Guess it wasn't serious because I haven't heard anything.
Go Blue Jays!

I don't think it was bad, because I read he offered to play LF on Sunday.

Lincecum looks like the real deal but I fully expect a sweep. It's time to get this train rollin'.
I heard LoDuca is day-to-day. They said it wasn't anything serious and that you'd have to cut his arm off to keep him out of the lineup.

Perez is getting hit real hard today so far. 5 flyballs - 2 for HR. He needs to calm down and stop overthrowing.

Perez gives up a lot of flyballs. It's the hard hit ones that scare me.

Sometimes it takes pitchers an inning to get loose.

Damn he blew a 99 mph fastball by Beltran. Looks like this is going to be long night.

Perez with a nice bounce back inning. Now we have to find a way to hit this kid.

Perez seems like the only Met that can catch up to his fastball.

yo trust me man.. who has a consistant 95 plus fastball for 9 innings.. im sure this kid will get tired and will catch up to em.. im worried about perez and why he is not matching up to his level. comon delgado and beltran lets do this!
