Trade Carlos Beltran NOW, Omar!

Carlos Beltran is over paid and highly overratted.

How did he ever make the alstar game? He is the most non-clutch hitter I've ever seen. We better trade him now or we'll get 4 more years of .
250 batting average at our number 3 hole. I don't understand why they refuse to bat him 6th. He is not a 2, 3, 4 or 5 hitter. The stats speaks for itself. Could you imagine if A-Rod hit .
250
We need to trade him for some young bats. He strikes out with people on base like it's part of his religion or something. The Mets can't be serious about winning a world series with Beltran as their 3 hitter???? Sure he has 16 homers. But does anyone remember any of them. Were any of them crucial.

Minus that one Philly series he has 12 homers. All the excuses of Alou not being in the lineup makes me sick. The problem is Carlos Beltran doesn't belong on this team for that salary

. Let's move on and Let's go Mets!

As inconsistent as Beltran has been, you've gotta be foolish/crazy to trade him. He's only 29, he has great speed/power. He is one of the best defensive center fielders in the game.
He's just in a bad rut. The only players I want off this team ASAP are Green, Newhan, Franco(Check), Alomar, Valentin(wasting ABs) and that ugly dude that look like an ugly version of Beltran.

The Yankees, you can have Melky, abreu, Tyler Clippard and Matt Desalvo

celtic he isn't "clutch" so you'd hate him...and why are you trading away 2 of your decent pitching prospects for someone that's even worse at handling new york pressure than a-rod?

You must not have watched Beltran with Houston in the playoffs...its part of the reason you guys signed him. He's had one bad playoff series in his career. Last years ALDS.

It would make a lot of sense from a Yankees perspective. DeSalvo isn't a prospect, and while Yankee fans like Clippard, he is the type of guy that every organization owns two of...he is very replaceable. Especially in the Yankees system where there are actually too many pitching prospects. Plus Abreu would be let go after this season. Basically, the Yankees would only be losing Melky long term for Beltran.

even though i don't think "clutch" exists, you're basing your entire opinion of the guy off of 12 games?
and have you watched him this year? his batting average is going to be lower than delgado's if he keeps this crap up (not that batting average is that important, but if you're gonna hit .258 you better OPS better than .800) he pulls inside pitches foul and rolls over on outside pitches (except for the hard ground ball he hit last night to score a run...dunno how kouzmanoff didn't get to it though). it's starting to appear that he only hit so well last year because delgado was hitting so well behind him. delgado has been mediocre this year, so beltran gets more off-speed stuff and he's looked horrible. i will say that he plays very good defense (anybody see that catch in houston when he ran up that stupid hill?)...but defensive ability is overrated in baseball.
and nykgm, why would you trade 2 pitchers when pitching has been the yankees' achilles heel this season? pettitte and mussina aren't going to be around forever, you know.
edited to fix numerous grammatical and syntax errors. yikes.

By the time Pettitte and Moose are gone (after 2008), Hughes, Chamberlain, and Wang will already have been together for almost a full year. And by 2009, Kennedy, Horne, Marquez (who are all better than both Clippard and DeSalvo), and a few others will be major league ready. And that doesn't account for any free agent signings in that 2-year period. The Yankees are so ridiculously stacked with pitching prospects that they can lose 2 of them and not even blink. I'm not even exaggerating. And while pitching is the Yankees' achilles heel, it isn't starting pitching, it's the bullpen.
Like I said, guys like Clippard and DeSalvo exist in every farm system. Maybe certain farm systems like the Nationals would be hurt by losing Clippard, but not a system like the Yankees' which is #1 in pitching.

calm down. He gonna go on a tear right now. He was pulling everything and leaning over the plate. HoJo is working on his balance and he looked really good last night.
He gonna shut all you clowns up whoever boo'd him.

Insults are not helping. If we need to keep Beltran...face it, no one would want him but maybe the yankees. My take on Beltran is he needs to give up batting from the left side. Out of all the switch hitters, he looks far worse. His swing from the left isn't pretty at all. We will live and die by the bat of Beltran because he is our number 3 hitter by god knows what. I will not count on a world series championship with our fate in the hands of his bat. The Mets I think know he's a mistake so they are leaving him in the 3 position to protect him. He needs to start protecting others at that salary. He's horrible.

You gotta be an absolute idiot to think nobody would want Beltran.
Hes coming back from an injury. He lost his swing and balance and hes getting it back slowly. Yeah hes soft...but when he's 100% he is an unbelievable player. Every single team in the L would want him.

One thing a lot of rosy colored people always seem to forget. What was his career batting averaging before coming to the Mets? What Ballpark did his display his power in the playoffs in the National League? Now those are not excuses what so ever, because bottom line he has not got the job done this year along with Carlos Delgado, Paul Lo Duca and David Wright.
Ever since HoJo has become the hitting coach im loving every approach he has taken with the struggling Mets. Read the papers, he is putting in a lot of work.
Also how many games has Beltran kept us in with his defense? Lets not be like some sports writers and pin point a dissapointing season on ONE guy(A-La Arod Last Year), because we all know this is the fault of a few players. You got to be crazy to even consider trading him at this point, what are we going to get back thats worthy?

I think defensive is overrated in baseball?
Ozzie Smith, Omar Vizquel, Ichiro, Jim Edmonds all say hello...
come on dude. A great catch that saves two runs is just as important as a two run homer. It all adds up.

Some team that has a guy named Amezaga or something as their CF?
Oh yeah, you guys can't afford Beltran.
