Your opinon on SNY

What's you're opinon on SNY?

Is it me, or is there to much NYY coverage? This is the METS' station, and I really think they should cut atleast 25% of the coverage and focus more on the Mets. And it really won't hurt them, since most NYY fans are probably watching YES to see their coverage on them anyway.

I also think they need more orginal shows.

There's way to much filler 12-4 for the summer. CFL games, or re-runs of NYM games really don't do much. Sportsnite is pretty good, but to much NYY coverage. The pre-game is ok, and could be much better.
Dailys News live is probably their best show, outside of NYM games, but it's on at a terrible time slot. "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interuption" are my favorite shows on ESPN, and are clearly more popular/better then DNL.

DNL has gone downhill I think as well. Gary Apple looks more and more like a pansy the more he talks. They talk about NYY a lot, the personalities aren't all that exiciting/impressive (that guy with the raspy voice i can't stand. "joe smith isn't a good pitcher" STFU, also that other guy who always looks bored/has a very dull voice).

How I would change the station:
During the fall-Feb have Big East games. Either OOC or IC, it'd be great. St John's, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Syracuse would all be games I'd be intrested in watching. I'm a STJ fan, and there's games not televised, where I know SNY can easily attain it, it'd eat time and people would defintely be watching.

I'd also try and expand the pre-game show to a hour long for only the opening game of the series. They can have the guys talk about what their prediction is on the series, all the match-ups, and everything can be in full detail. It'd be more intresting.

Change DNL's time to 4pm. This would stop their terrible timing being with PTI/ATH, and will probably boost ratings. I'd also try and get new personalities.

I'd also make a new show, kind of like a Yankee-orgraphy. It can be biographies on Mets greats. It'd really be intresting to see who they pick. Maybe they can add one once a month or every two months or so. It'd be a nice filler, and would be a intresting watch for a Met fan.

Last but not least, if none of this happens, I'd try and add a simulcast of a radio show. M&MD is a great for YES, since it kills dead time when nothing is going on, and doesn't get bad ratings.

What's you're thoughts on SNY and what would you like to see changed?

I agree, they do talk about the Yankees too much. DNL is also my fav show outside of the met games.

I could've sworn I heard they signed Sid and Joe, for the 10-1 slot. But now I think with Sid gone, and evan in, the show has gotten better, so thats something SNY might take a look at. Or maybe they should get Steve Summers for a show.

I like the idea of moving DNL at 4. The problem is a show like Yankee-ography works for YES because of Yankees great history and players. Mets don't really have that many great players or such a great history.

I think what the Mets can a show for the fans. DNL has that segment in which they go to the streets and ask the fans, maybe the mets can turn that into a full length show.

It's wouldn't be bad to give Gary Cohen or Howie Rose a show like Ralph Keiner "keiner's corner or Fran Hele had.

But the thing with the Mets' history that's somewhat unique, is that there's a lot of guys who were loved by only Met fans, and really weren't big outside of NYM fans.

It'd be really intresting to maybe see some bio's on not-so-superstar guys like: Timo Perez, Al Lieter, Edgardo Alfonzo, Turk Wendell, John Franco, John Olerud, Lenny Dystrka, etc. (born in 91, so i really don't know much about 86 players).

Obviously from there you do bio's on: Keith Hernandez, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Mike Piazza, Tom Seaver, Ron Darling.

I really think it'd be intresting to see kind of a "anti-Yankeegraphy" and have it on guys who have always been fan-favorites of the Mets (outside of the stars), and everybody can get a real in-depth view on how they are.

NYM are diff in NYY as we always have the mentality of the "underdog" and have our own guys who we love, while others probably don't respect as much.

nahhh, I don't wanna completely copy the Yes network. Your right Met fans would like to see bio's of not to superstars, but it won't bring in too much ratings outside of Met fans.

86 team: Jesse Orasco, Ray Knight, Sid fernandez,

Other Great Mets whos bio I would be interested in watching: Jerry Koosman, dave kingman (despite the .204 ave, did hit a lot of HR), Hojo, Benard Gilkey, John Franco, Todd Hundley(my fav Met before Piazza), Rusty Staub, Cleon Jones.

Well then again. isn't SNY only in NY/NJ/PA anyway? And most of it's ratings are based on the Met fans (if not 95%).

I just find it annoying where everyday. this is the schedule

6-10 re-runs of sportsnite. 10-12 Paid Programming. 12-1 Sportsnite. 1-1 30 Port O Call (wtf?). 1 30- 2 On the Hook.

2-5 CFL Football. Toronto Argonauts at Calagary Stampeders. Who the hell watches that?

5-6 DNL, 6-6 30 Sports nite, 6 30-7 Pregame, 7-10 Mets, 10-10 30 Postgame, 10 30- 11 Sportsnite, 11-12 DNL re-run.

It's kind of pathetic. everything is a cheap re-run, PP, or just Sportsnite. Outside of the Met games there's nothing to watch anyway. That's why I think having things about the NYM players would really work. and wouldn't cost that much $$$.

I know, there isn't a lot of good programs considering it's owned by Time Warner and COmcast.

I think it should be:

6-10: paid Programming

10-1: Joe and Evan

1-4: .................... I don't know

4-5: daily News Live

5-6: maybe something for the Fans like I said earlier/ or give Howie
Rose/ Gary Cohen or Ed Coleman a show for an Hour.
6-6:30 Sportsnite

6:30-7: Pregame

7-10 Met Game

I'd go with this.

6-8 Sportsnite. (waking up in the mourning. it's a nice alt to SC).
8-10 PP.
10-1 Joe and Evan (or any radio personality)

Here I'd like maybe something like this:
1-3 Mets Rewind. They can show highlights of last night's game (so it doesn't take 3 hours).
3-4 Mets Biography/B-ball.FB coverage. Either have a bio or a offseason show on what's goin on with the NYK/NJN/NYG/NYJ teams. It can eat time, and be a intresting watch. Once Mets bio gets off the ground with over 5-6 shows, they can maybe split it or something.
4-5 DNL.
5-5 30 Sportsnite.
5 30- 6 30 Pre-game on Series. (this would only happen before the first game of a series). We'll have real indepth on pitching matchups, line ups, injuries, each opposing team's season, the importance of it, etc.
6 30- 7 Pre game on the game.
7-10 Mets.
10-10 30 Postgame. Give it to one of the guys you mentioned.
10 30-11 Sportsnite.

I think that'd be fine.

Honestly I never watch the channel unless the game is on, they really dont have much that appeals to me. It is one thing to talk about the history of the franchise, but we as a franchise dont have such a good one.

Maybe they can rank the Top 50 Mets of all time doing an hour show on each position.

Who ever said SNY was a Mets station?? Sure it's owned by the Mets but the Wilpons want it to be a Sports station where fans that only follow hockey, fans who only follow basketball, and fans who only follow football can tune in and get updated.

It isn't like YES where all those homers read cue cards written by Steinbrenner and they only talk about the Yankees. I like what Wilpon is doing, he's getting more viewers to watch it, espically with the depature of Sportsdesk and getting replaced by MSG, NY(LAWL) SNY just got more popular.

They promote it as the Met Station.

Anyways I dont anyone want it to be like YES network, but we all would like to see better programming on that channel. Other than the Met Games, Mets Weekly, and DNL they don't really have anything else.

It would be great to see them add a show like like Sports on 1, or Miked Up. A guy like Joe Beningo, or Steve Summers would be great as the host. Plus it would get the fans involved as well.

they do need something. it's seriously (Please Use More Appropriate Word) when it's DNL (on at the worst time), met game, or sportsnite, then there's nothing.

they need to have atleast 1-2 more orginal shows, so there's more to watch. it does have huge potential. espically with everyone not liking espn (the people who do are either 8-14 or just not THAT much into sports).

but they seriously need to focus on the mets 75% of the time.

DNL would be a great show if it wasn't all Yankee fans. Gary Apple's good but he's a homer for the wrong team.

Love the Mets broadcast team esp. Keith hernandez and Ron Darling.

They should show some Brooklyn Cyclones games it is the Mets minor League that would be a hit!
