Dotel was one of the better arms on the market, so just in that regard they got better. Next year with Soriano, Gonzalez and Dotel the Braves have something there.

Who cares, he isn't gonna re-sign with them anyways. Texieria rejected a 8 year/140 million dollar extension with the Rangers, I doubt the Braves would give him more moolah.

Full Article

Hicks confirmed the Rangers made Teixeira an official long-term contract proposal more than two weeks ago in a last-ditch effort to keep him. The proposal would have kept Teixeira in Texas for eight more seasons at a total for approximately $140 million. The deal would have included a mutually agreed figure for Teixeira's last year of salary arbitration in 2008 and another seven years worth $18 million per season.
Talk about a desperation move.

Dotel and his 3.91 ERA doesn't scare me one bit.

It's all about the home roots for Teixeira, thats what I got to believe. They will let Andruw walk, and throw all the money at Mark.

They also got Mahay and they got Ring.

Adding 3 bullpen guys (2 are proven, one is young) - 2 lefties, one righty - is pretty good.

I still think we have the edge over the Braves, especially since we're getting Pedro back - with any luck. But they did set themselves up pretty well for a sprint to the finish.

sosa can be that 'pen addition. humber/pelfrey/smith can also help out. (not a fan of pelf though). there's also waivers.

i'm not scared yet

And we have that guy with the 103 MPH fastball - Burgos.

I agree, NYM doesn't have much to worry about. We were clicking first 20-25 games are so, since then this team has been off, and we're still in first place / playing well below our potential.

If our team gets it together, we're the best team in the east. Even banged up and not playing well, we're still one of the best.

I would be scared of our lineup now, but the backend of our rotation might just lead to our demise.

Best lineup in the NL now.

Harris/Diaz
Renteria
Chipper
Teixeira
Andruw
Francoeur
McCann
Johnson

When Kelly Johnson is your 8th hitter, you know you have a scary lineup. I'm sure 5-7 is subject to change depending on how well they play. Just imagine if Andruw puts it together. :o

If not for Mike Gonzalez being finished earlier in the year, I'd say we were a lock to win the East, but we'll just have to live with the inconsistencies of our pitching. We have a good chance to outscore anyone. The only thing that bothers me about the trade deadline is that we lost our Met killer in Davies. You guys are the one and only team he pitched well against.

How do you figure?

Reyes
Castillo
Beltran
Wright
Delgado
Alou
Green/Milledge
Lo Duca

NYM still as the better line up and bench (once Chavez gets healthy). The thing with NYM is that this year nobody as been consistent, and delgado/beltran as been huge dissappointments. if we live up to our potential and shift it to anotehr gear (which i predict) we'll win the east.

we also have MUCH better SP

Much better? Really?

And that lineup is not better than ours with Tex.
