Implosion, HAPPENS

Hey, I feel your pain. Seattle was ONE damn game behind the Angels in August, 3 games ahead of the Yankees in the Wildcard, 5 Games ahead of Detroit and Cleveland, and had the 3rd best record in baseball (behind LA and Boston). What did the Mariners proceed to do? Lose 13 of the next 14 games to and eventually finish 5 games out of the wildcard and 6 games out of 1st place. It's a sick feeling.

See, just as quickly as there is implosion, there is explosion- ask the Phillies and the Rockies. They went buck wild in the last couple of weeks. Timing, simple as that.

In any sense, the Mets have a great team. All this talk about firing Randolph, etc is just post-implosion reactive BS. Mets DO need to get rid of some of their fossils though. Glavine is serviceable, but he is done-dada. Martinez, I wouldn't count on him, though he may be a candidate to have one of those big comeback years. Bottomline- just replace a Glavine for a high quality -30 starter and the Mets will be fine for a few years.

Damn though, that was some serious implosion. Mookie Wilson has cursed them...
