Other stuff in the article - nothing that surprsing. The mets might give Castro the starting job, and they've put a call into Loduca.

And they plan to go young in right field (Milledge, Gomez or Chavez) - though Chavez isn't exactly young.

Im really excited to have Castillo from the start of the season, his defense up in the middle with Reyes and Beltran will really pay off. He is great at getting on base and in this day there are not many good 2B's left. Glad to have him back.

I tend to agree. This reminds me of the Glavine & Duque signings last year. Too much money for what you can expect from the guys. Granted both Glav & Duque were Ok last year, but I still felt we overpaid.

Same story here, but at the same time, he does fit right in offensivly and defensivly, and he's not that expensive, so, I can live with the signing.

Yeah, I like Castillo, but I also think 4 years is too much.

I disagree...

It's not like we have a stud 2b prospect that is waiting in the wings.

I KNOW...... Gotay.

Gotay is a defensive liability at 2b if you want to start him NOW. Hes a good youngster that needs to develop. Castillo probably won't play 160 games at 2b because of his history with the knees and his age. Gotay is still useful off the bench because hes proven he can pinch hit off the bench, something not every player can do successfully.
