AP - The Mets will raise ticket prices about 20 percent for next season, reflecting their high payroll and upcoming move to a new ballpark.

The Mets recently sent out season-ticket renewal forms. Prices last season ran from $108 for Metro Club Gold seats near the dugouts to $5 for spots in the top rows at Shea Stadium. [READ]

I dont understand why its not like we added payroll this offseason. This better be foreshadowing of something.

Thank you. This is (Please Use More Appropriate Word). We didn't even make the postseason. I thought they already have the funding for the new stadium? Go get us Santana at least, if you wanna' raise the prices...

& just like the Yankees, you dont think the new stadium's ticket prices will be more expensive than current stadium ticket prices?

We can all whine and cry about the ticket prices but I'm for sure going to shell out the cash for them. I mean what can ya do??

I'm out here in LA trying to scavenge tickets for Dodgers vs. Mets when they roll out here and the ticket prices aren't much less. I'm also gong to be making a trip back to NY later this summer and why not visit Shea one last time.

That being said...they better have Santana in that pitching rotation.

20%

I don't care how you look at it, this is an ugly decision. Sure, some people will pay, but the team misses the playoffs, doesn't make significant changes in the off season, we're in the middle of a recession and somebody in the mets front office thinks this is a good idea?

And the James Dolan award for pissing off your teams fans goes to . . .

first time I've said this, but I hope this move backfires and the mets go back to empty stadiums like they had before piazza.
