If he beats out Church and Alou in spring training, would you guys hand him the starting job? Hypothetically speaking of course...

As far as the pictures go... Dear Lord.

Well he still needs more time in AA, if he goes on the David Wright path and dominate AA and dominate AAA then who knows what happens.

Bottom line, I dont want him in the Majors at all this season until the expanded rosters. Best case being he turns into Andruw Jones or Miguel Caberera. Realistically I dont want this kid to get a big head, really dont know if that is an issue. However let him tear up the minor leagues, Mets need to have patience.

Well considering that he was a 19 year old in AA last year, I think Omar sees him on the fast lane to the majors. Hopefully he has a great year and replaces Alou next year.

It's unlikely he even makes the roster. As it is, this team is facing a crunch.

8 starters, 5 pitchers (OK, you can get away with 4 pitchers for the first week or so), but after that, 8 + 5 = 13

that leaves 6 bull pen guys and 6 bench players.

Bullpen:

Bullpen
Wagner
Heilman
Sanchez
Feliciano
Schoeneweis
Sosa
M. Wise

That's 8 major league ready and able bullpen guys. (Joe Smith waiting in the wings as #9) - one of those guys doesn't make the openign day roster, maybe two.

Bench:

Castro (catcher - he's a given)
Easley (can play 1B, 2B, a little OF) and a power hitter for a bench guy - yeah he's getting older, but he makes the team, no question.
Marlon Anderson - our best pinch hitter and a lefty hitter - he makes the roster based on pinch hitting alone.
Endy (Mr. Defense) Chavez - a defensive replacement for Alou, he makes the team without question.

That's 5

and we either go with 7 bullpen guys, or we give the last bench spot to Gotay or Pagan (now, granted, F-Mart may well outperform Pagan in spring training and in the pros if he makes the pros) - but, we are not a team short on depth. F-Mart will start the season in AAA where he can play every day, without pressure, and work on his game.

Now, at some point, sure, I expect to see him. If he's going to compete for a starting spot next season, we should give him some time this year, but it won't be early in the season, unless there's 2 or 3 injuries.

The kid is growing.
I better not see him in the Majors this season either!! I have him as one of my minors keepers in my fantasy league...I don't want him to lose that eligibility this year.
