Mets are interested in Marcus Thames, he isn't anything special but he did hit 18 hr's last year and 26 hr's the year before. He's a horrid hitter and can't hit righties but what can ya do??

So I guess Pagan is the opening day LF'er ... he may not hit like Alou but he's another CF'er playing the corner outfield spot so that's a plus. LAWL, our outfield is all CF'ers with Pagan, Beltran, and Church.

Jose Reyes
Luis Castillo
David Wright
Carlos Beltran
Carlos Delgado
Ryan Church
Angel Pagan
Brian Schneider

Still good ... Mets are obviouslly gonna be more of a pitching/defense type of team instead of a 5-6 runs per game type of team.

a trade could be made. Maybe Ben Johnson makes the opening day roster (is he still on planet earth by the way?)

but - yeah, possible injuries to Delgado and Alou and Beltran talking about his knees, this is a tiny bit unsettling. Without those 3 guys, who bats cleanup, Ryan Church?

Does F-Mart make an early appearance?

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. How good Pagan will be as a starter in April - etc.

This brings me back to the GM's horrible offseason moves. We have a lineup of players who constantly break down. I don't think we'll make the playoffs. Why did we trade Milledge? Why didn't we let Castillo walk? Why'd we give him a 3 year when we could've let Gotay play and resign Valentine for cheap as a backup? Why are we considering El Duke in the rotation? Why do we have two question marks in our top 4 in the rotation? We all know Beltran is going to get hurt too. Mark my words...we have another disaster coming this season. :banghead:

The only guy on the lineup who's injury prone is Moises Alou.

Okay cool, don't hop on if they make it.

nycefnl wrote:Why did we trade Milledge?
Front Office wanted him gone because he was a big distraction, which he was. He was always gonna be our version of 'Barry Bonds' where everything thing he does makes it to the papers.

It's best for both sides, hopefully Milledge does well in Washington and hopefully they can handle him.

nycefnl wrote:Why didn't we let Castillo walk?
Why would the Mets let one of the better #2 hitters in the game walk?? :-?

nycefnl wrote:Why'd we give him a 3 year when we could've let Gotay play
I thought it was 4 years, anyways it's a good deal compared to what others wanted.

And Gotay isn't good ... he's a horrible fielder and can't hit lefties. Hell, he may not even be here on Opening Day.

nycefnl wrote:resign Valentine for cheap as a backup?
They re-signed Valentin for another team to see what he has, Valentin knows he's not gonna make the team and just wants to go out on his terms instead of an injury.

nycefnl wrote:Why are we considering El Duke in the rotation?
Because when he's healthy he's very good?? I'm not expecting anything from him this year, hopefully this is Pelfrey's year.

nycefnl wrote:Why do we have two question marks in our top 4 in the rotation?
Pedro is one question mark, who's the other??

nycefnl wrote:We all know Beltran is going to get hurt too.
And we all know Beltran is gonna play through it like always and still get labled as a 'soft' player.

Throwing in the flag a month before the season starts??

4-6 weeks ... although I'd add an additional 4 weeks since it's Alou.

So I'd say mid June.
