I posted this before Pelfrey entered the game and basically stunk it up for 4 innings and a billion hits and runs.
I don't know what to do now. Pelfrey had 2 good ST starts, and now 2 devastatingly terrible outings in a row. I don't know what to do anymore. All he has is a 95mph fastball which he can't consistently locate. It is as straight as an arrow and gets pounded all over the place, even when it is in the bottom of the strike zone.
The solution is not giving him new pitches. He needs to start from square one. This guy has a good base, body, and arm. He needs to learn how to pitch. Someone please give this guy a good coach in the minors. I mean, if he can turn into a dominant reliever with a 95mph fastball, I guess thats the best we can hope for.
He has never shown us that he can be a frontline starter, and this is what is discouraging about him. He can't string together 2-3 starts where he goes 7 innings and 50 ground balls, which is what was supposed to be his calling last year. Instead, he struck guys out with his slider and his fastball was all over the place.
Must send him down and bury him for the whole year. Get some coach to re-dedicate Pelfrey. He needs to be made over... this whole "He can be like Chien-Ming Wang" thing is over. His sinker doesn't bite because he can't locate his fastball consistently. He can't set anyone up because he can't locate his fastball... period. I don't pretend to know much about pitching, but maybe Yankee fans can chime in here. How many times will Wang throw a 2 seemer in the inner half of the plate, and have it fouled, only to come back with a sinker in the exact spot and the guy grounds out?

precisely what I feel the Mets should do with Pelfrey..
sometimes I think the jacket over does it sometimes trying to re tool his young pitchers. Pelfrey needs to remember how it was during his glory Wichita State days and start again from there.

I heard rumors that they will make him the 5th starter when he comes back healthy, but I have also heard that he will be used in our bullpen...
Does anyone know?

I doub that. I think El Duque will be on the DL until his arm strengths build up ... right not he's throwing in the 70's.
