First basemen
Ben Broussard (32)
Sean Casey (34)
Tony Clark (37)
Carlos Delgado (37) - $16MM mutual option for '09 with a $4MM buyout
Nomar Garciaparra (35)
Jason Giambi (38) - $22MM club option for '09 with a $5MM buyout
Scott Hatteberg (39)
Eric Hinske (31)
Doug Mientkiewicz (35)
Kevin Millar (37)
Richie Sexson (34)
Mark Teixeira (29)

Obviously looking at this list there is really only one guy here that would make a huge impact in Teixeria, he would command a huge contract as Boras is his agent and he has skill.

Other names that somewhat intrigue me is Nomar mainly because I was always a fan of his and the fact he hits for average. With Beltran and Wright as the power hitters I feel that he could be a good guy for us.

However the point is that Delgado dont seem to be the player he once was and its time to come to grips with it. However with the bear free agent market for first basemen we might need to look for one via trade.

Teixeira or Adam Dunn. Chances are we get neither.

I would consider Richie "Kong" Sexton.

Nomar would be a good pickup to platoon with one of our young guys, like Mike Carp or Nick Evans.

I agree.

Nomar's worth a look, he can hit, he's less expensive, less long term. It's a classic mets move - go for the right fit, not the Yankee, Bankee mega star asking for 20 million.

Nomar could be a useful #7 hitter but from 1st base you need some type of power especially on this team.

Tex would be the 1st choice obviously, but Dunn wouldn't be a bad 2nd option. Can Karp hit breaking balls yet?

I wonder if the Bankees (I mean Yankees) are the favorites to land both CC & Tex. I'm sure we'll be in the running for both, but I wouldn't be upset if NYM got a cheaper 1Bman next year. Evans may be the guy in 2 years.

If we sign Tex, that would be the final nail in the Braves coffin. They would never recover...
