Good inning...

Getting Parra's pitch count up.. a few singles, 0 outs. delgado with a rbi single to bring in wright.

good inning even if we don't score anymore.

Figgy is pitching great.. hes got about a million different pitches and mixes up his fastball well. He is impressing me.

edit:

WHO SAID church can't hit lefties?

man, what a great story Figgy has ... it's a dream come true for him. the interview with his parents and his dad saying that it feels like he died and went to heaven was great.

great start Figgy ... great job bullpen, Smitty is the man ... Heilcrap still stinks ... and Wagner looking good and well rested.

hopefully Reyes' tight hammy is because of the horrendous weather.

My thoughts so far...

Game 1:

Figgy looked great... mixed his fastball in well with about the other billions of pitches in his arsenal. He pitched in and out, up and down... it was a beauty to watch. I felt reallllllll confident when he went 1-2-3 in the 1st for like 8 pitches. If he can keep hitters guessing away from his fastball, we might have something here...

Face it guys... Heilman is either going to come in and dominate, or he is going to suck. I came to this conclusion a long time ago, but now I'm sure of it. How many times have we've seen Heilman over the last 2+ years come in, throw 10 pitches, 9 for strikes and 3Ks? I don't know what it is with this dude. But he is still extremely valuable. I cannot wait until Duaner comes back.. this bullpen is going to ROCK.

I know Chuch went 1-4 with 2 SO, but he got the big hit when it mattered, and he kept the inning going by moving delgado into 3third, almost guaranteeing that we score that 1 run there with no outs... He can hit, and has an monster arm in the outfield.

Pagan.. what is there to say....

Game 2:

Sheets vs Santana should be a bigggggg game. Hopefully we can score some runs behind Santana. It is going to be his first start at Shea so I wouldnt be surprised if he was a little shaky, but I trust the chemistry between Schneider and Santana.

Game 3:

IMO, this is a BIG start for Perez. We're either going to depend on him for the sweep, or 2 out of 3. If Perez has improved in the mental aspect, he'll show it here, and I think this is a big game for him. Teams want consistency out of Perez, and the question is if he can bring his A game for another good start.

Just wanted to say something here...

Figgy threw only 90 pitches or so through 6innings, and Willy has been doing this a lot lately.. Ollie threw 94 in 6 against the Phils, and Maine threw 90 in 6 against the Phils also. ALL three times, our guys were starting to show signs of mental fatigue (Ollie and Maine the most, Figgy the least) and he went to his bullpen QUICK after our guys gave in 6 quality innings.

I can't imagine if Smith or Heilman blew it again last night, how bad would you hear the uproar from the fans " omg om gomg he only threw 90 pitches.. he was cruising dont bring him out omg omg omg willy sucks, he cant manage the pen."

Fact is, things broke right for us last night and Willy looked like a genius. I think all 3 games were good examples of how difficult it is for starters to be mentally strong throughout innings 5 and on.

i do agree he takes pitchers out way too early and i really dislike willie's managing. you will not hear me say he's a good manager. trust me.

but his move was right yesterday. fig looked to be slowing down. he was barly getting strikes (the ump helped a lot) and the brew crew were catching up to him.

this goes to show you the difference in teams like the Brewers and FLA..

In FLA everyone one of their batters were swinging hard, and early against Johan... they were scared of his changeup, slider, and overall deception.

Now, we go to a real professional team? the Brewers know they can afford to wait for good pitches they feel comfortable with because
(a) sheets is on the mound
(b) they aren't afraid of Johan's deception deep in counts

couple this with Johan not having his best stuff, and some location issues, we're looking at 5-6 innings here...

Uhm, did you see his start against the Braves? He looks great then.

Nice easy inning by Johan there.
