I stole most of the game thread from Sheik, from the Cubs board, so credit him for most of it.
I'm known as "The Mets Fan" over on the Cubs board. Born and partly raised in Queens, but the Cubs are my absolute #1 team. gooGD gave us a great scouting report on Maine so I thought I would return the favor, and since you didn't have the game thread up I whipped up one for ya.
Zambrano
He's got 4 main pitches that he likes to throw, but has a total of 6 pitches that he can throw effectively. The primary four are his 2seam, his slider, his 4seam, and his sinker. Once in awhile he'll throw a curve and a cutter.
The 4seam is a straight ahead pitch with sight movement anywhere from 91-98mph, consistently in the mid 90's. His 2 seam is a 91-94mph pitch that drops and floats inside on righties. This is his most effective pitch, as it moves up to 6-7 inches. Nasty. His second most featured pitch is his slider, this is his doom or glory pitch. He throws it anywhere from 72-80mph, and it's got a frisbee look to it that goes down and away on righties. He also throws a sinker that'll drop about 4-5 inches thrown at the low 80's.
His blue-moon pitches are a curve, that has 1-7 action, and goes anywhere from the high 60's to the low 70's. He's also got a cutter, rarely seen, barely any movement, thrown in the low-low 90's.
If Zambrano doesn't fall in love with his slider, and isn't hanging it up in the zone, he is nasty. His fastballs are electric if they are hitting the corners and sides of the zone. He likes to sneak the slider through the back door, and he throws his sinker inside on righties and outside on lefties. Since you guys are loaded with lefties/switchers he'll work those guys up and away with his fastball and then he'll mix in the slider down and inside.
If you guys can pounce on him early he can get frustrated and start throwing the ball as opposed to pitching it. If one pitch is being consistently hit, he is usually stubborn and continues to throw it.

It should be an interesting game for Maine, last year the Cubs really seemed to have his number. Pending on which Zambrano we see tonight, it should make for a good one.

We owned Maine last year, but good to see him composed against a good team that wooped him last year.
Its sad he got no credit for that pitchig performance.
