I would welcome Nady back, we need another bat that can mash righties, and Nady would be a great fit next to Church in the lineup.

I also think that bringing in Nady would be the spark that this team needs... WE must win now. Today. This season. This series, and I think Nady can provide that wake-up call for the rest of the team, especially if he starts playing for Delgado.

If we trade for Nady, it would almost have to be for him to play 1st base. If Alou is healthy, then there is no reason to trade for Nady. If we trade for Nady as an OFer, what does that mean for Fmart next year? Church has proven himself as a legitimate player with his defense and hitting.

I would not mind trading something like Parnell + Carp, or somewhere there abouts for Nady, provided that we find a solution for Delgado.

If we trade for Nady, you better be damn sure that the Delgado issue is solved. We're not cutting him. No one wants this guy. He won't take a part-time role on this team. His contract is huge. There has to be a solution in order for Nady to come here..

On the plus side - Nady is a righty hitter that we could use, and Alou is such a big injury risk and he could fill in (I doubt we sign him to play first base), but if Gado continues to struggle, he could be used to replace him.


When Alou is healthy:

Nady can fill in for Gado or Church, or slide church to center and give Beltran a day off, or use him as a nifty rightly pinch hitter.

When Alou isn't healthy, Nady can start in the OF.

and Nady can be our starting first baseman next year. He would fit this team nicely.


On the Minus side - a trade for Nady would cost us at least 1 real prospect, maybe Carp or Evans, AND, something else. Pittsburgh would probably want an Outfielder to replace him (maybe Chavez or Pagan) and a pitching prospect. Pittsburgh has no real incentive to give him up, so he would be expensive.

I think the only truth to this article is that the mets inquired, and that's it. I expect Pittsburgh will ask for too much and the trade won't get done.


As a fan, would you want to give up Carp or Evans for Nady, cause that would be a minimum.
