According to the Binghamton Press, the injury-ravaged Mets have called up first baseman Nick Evans from Double-A Binghamton. Evans was told of the move during the ninth inning of Friday night's game in Reading, Pa., and will fly to Denver this morning to join the big-league club. The Mets apparently are reacting to the hamstring injury suffered by backup first baseman Marlon Anderson during Friday night's game against the Rockies. Evans was hitting .292 with eight homers and 31 RBIs in 45 games with the B-Mets at the time of his surprise call-up.
good, now the next step is dump Vargass and bring up Jon Niese.

do your best kid, try to hit better than .220 for you can replace Delgadold.

it sad to see Marlon get hurt, but this is great news for the mets to have Evans called up. Hopefully he can prove he's our future guy at 1st.

in a way it would be smart for Willie to bench Evans tomm, b/c you wouldnt want to rush a guy like this, if he's only gonna be up while Anderson is out. If anything i would have him come in as a defensive sub for Delgado late in the game.

He's here so Willie has to play him even if he's here just until Anderson or Alou returns. You don't want to have him sitting on the bench when he could have getting ABs in AA. I just hope he shows enough to force the team to keep him up. He got off to a good start going 3-4 with 3 doubles and 2 rbis.

Looks like He'll get called up again if Alou hit the DL. Foxsports.com said Evans, Dan Murphy or Mike Carp would be called up to replace Alou.

It would make more sense to call up Carp since I think he would be able to handle the majors better than Evans right now. Also doesn't hurt that Carp is having a great season and plays LF or could play 1st(if they would let him).

Robinson Cancel got the call. We don't need to call up no stinking OF, we could just add a 3rd catcher we don't need.

WOW. who is one making these stupid call-ups? WHat is the point? 3 catchers do nothing for us. Cancel of all catchers too. Maybe b/c he's from Puerto Rico??? im sick of the management they are sooooooooooooo stupid!!!!!!!!!! Screw Minaya for Putting a bunch of old trashy bums with our young rising stars.

Cancel probably won't last a day since we traded for Trot Nixon. I think he likely will step right in as the starter in LF or RF. Maybe we can platoon him with Alou if he ever get out of the retirement home.
