to the Red Sox and pick up their best prospects in a heartbeat.
Season is just about over and Wilpons are broke from Maidoff

I have to agree with you there....
Send him to Boston or the Yankees and take some of their top prospects....

I don't want to see Johan traded. He's my favorite player on this team.

Not Johan. But we need a toss up pretty bad.

Easier to find than true aces. I think we've seen all we're going to see from Reyes. I haven't seen any improvement from him in the past few years. We might even see a dropoff in the coming years. Attitude-wise, I've definitely seen a turn for the worse.
It's my feeling that we probably need to start busting up this team already. All we've heard are excuses, in the past few seasons. Of the big 3, in our position players (Beltran and Wright being the other 2), I'd move Reyes first. Oddly, the guy I might want to keep most, is Beltran. I've been sorely disappointed with Wright's leadership, thus far. Beltran has proven to be more of a clubhouse leader. Wright seems to be too much of a pu$$y to step on Delgado's toes. I'm getting tired of it. He's had his chance to take the leadership mantle in the past few seasons, and he always comes up short. But anyway, Reyes is the guy I'd still move first. I think his value will steadily start going down from here on out. Of course, if Beltran's knee is shot, then all bets are off...

No more awful than trading Santana. But we need to start deconstructing this team. And of our 'prime' assets, he'd be one of the first I'd move.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to move forward. 1. The Mets have an awful farm system, and not one prospect has a significant value. 2. The Mets have very little room to add payroll.
Thus, the only option for this team is to blow up the core. I'd like to see what Reyes or Beltran could get us. They could easily fix most of our needs.

no ... they've been ranked #17 at the half of this season and could be between 10-15 next year because of the prospects developing.

"Awful" may be a stretch, but it certainly isn't good for a reputable ballclub. There are decent role players that have come up from the minors: Parnell, Murphy, Evans, but no player who makes a significant difference. Other than F-Mart, who does the Mets have that's worthy of boasting?
