How useful is the #6 pick?

Mets have lost 4 in a row (something I root for these days). Those who are into drafting, does having the #6 pick make a big difference, or are you as likely to get just as good a player drafting #11 or 12?

Yeah, it's not really like hoops, wherein a high pick means a lot more. In baseball, you could have a Piazza develop from a super high round (or even a Tom Brady in football). It's rare for clear-cut superstars to be identified very early on in the baseball draft.

Well, I'm still happy that the team is loosing. Maybe that's wrong, but they have a pretty good shot at the #5 pick now.

It's been a lost year for a while. At least the mets'll get the #6 or #7 pick, which is something. Next year I'll start rooting for wins.
