Sandy Alomar Sr. and First Base Coach Luis Alicea will not be returning for the 2010 season.

According to a team press release, Razor Shines and Catching Instructor Sandy Alomar Jr. will be part of the team’s coaching staff in 2010 in yet to be determined roles.

The release also reads, “Howard Johnson, Dan Warthen and Bullpen Coach Randy Niemann will return to Jerry Manuel’s staff in the same positions next year.”

In a video for FoxSports.com, Ken Rosenthal says Bobby Valentine will be on Houston’s short list to manage the Astros.

Yesterday, Buster Olney of ESPN.com said that Valentine is in talks with the Marlins, ‘among other teams,’ regarding, ‘a possible return as a manager in Major League Baseball.’

However, Marlins team President David Samson told the Associated Press he is unaware of any talks between his team and Valentine.

Minaya, reaching out to Towers and Ricciardi? I like it. But Dufus, you might be tying your own rope here... these guys might eventually replace you...
