Not a Mets fan but as a Jets fan I had no problem rooting for the Giants. I want to see NY win even if it isn't my predominant team. As a Yanks fan, I'll support the Mets unless they play the Yanks as well.

Good question, I guess their choice would be the Super Bowl. The Pats were well hated at the time, and everyone wanted them to go down. So that would make more sense.

You're a Jets fan, but you root for the Yankees? WTF? By NYC law, if you root for the Jets and you're fond of baseball, you have to be a Mets fan. lol But seriously, it seems weird that you're a Yanks and Jets fan.

LoL, I know man. I was having a discussion with a few people about this and I think as the younger generation comes up you'll see more and more Mets/Giants or Yankees/Jets fans because the whole thing originates with the Jets at Shea and Giants at Yankee (which I didn't even know about the Jets at Shea but a friend of my older brother said...is that true

). I'm 22 and grew up with a father who's a Mets fan and a mother who's a Yankee fan...so I sided with one for Baseball and one for Football.

My best friend is also a Jets/Yankees fan...and in the superbowl he was cheering for the Giants...but I know a lot of Jets and Mets fans that prefer anyone but the Giants or especially the Yanks.

I just try to let it go and enjoy a good competition stress free. Im a met fan and love to see the yanks suffer. But I give them there respect for what they did this year. And privately give a-rod credit for proving his worth finally.

I am a Yankee and a Jet fan.
I was rooting for the Giants in the superbowl. I root for NY teams if my team is eliminated. I'd love to see a Yanks Mets W.S., Jets Giants Superbowl etc....
I don't understand the hatred of one NY team for another, it doesn't make sense especially since they don't play in the same division or even conference (league).
- I am a huge Yankee fan, but I also like the Mets.
- Jets fan, also like the Giants.
Only teams I hate are my fav team's rivals like Red Sox and Patriots.
Can someone enlighten me on the hatred of a fellow NY team?

Hard to imagine..Me and every Jet fan I know rooted for the Giants. There isn't that Met-Yankee animosity in NY football. I'm a Jet fan that doen't hate the Giants whatsoever so rooting for them to put their foot in Bellicheat's ass was too easy..

The thing is...as a Met fan, I don't hate the Yankees. It's their fans that make me go against them. They are obnoxious and most of them won't admit it, but a lot of them are bandwagoners. Lebron James is one of them (but I can't hate the player just the person). I actually was rooting for the Yanks to win it in 96 but that was it. After that, it seemed like everybody became a fan and I just couldn't root for them anymore as a New Yorker... until now. All I can say is f*k the Phillies.
I've also been to Yankee games. I go watch them like once or twice a season just to go with this girl who's a big Jeter fan.
Oh yea...and as for the Jets. Since football is like my third favorite sport, I have no animosity towards the Giants and they are actually my 2nd favorite team. I'm still a Jets fan but if the Giants aren't playing the Jets, then I'll root for them. The only time I make fun of the Giants is if my dad is there. He's a big Giants fan and I love laughing at his face when they lose.

as a mets fan, i decided that Philly is who i want to win, since they will represent our division and our league. and that i really dislike the yankees, no offense to everybody. and as a jets fan, i rooted for the Giants, especially since i hate Bellichick and thats one of the seasons that he cheated in with the videotapes.

my favorite baseball player is on the Yankees, but I also love pedro. I am conflicted, but in the end I have to root for A-Rod to get his ring because pedro already got his.

Its pretty much for bragging rights.....I live in the heart of Mets land and I hear a lot of smack from Mets fans....there is also a fair number of Jets fans and they talk also...but I mostly hear it from the Jets fans when they Giants screw up and vice versa....but I wanted to know what is the norm around these parts...since I only recall a few Jets fans actually going for the Giants and I have only seen a few Mets fans going for the Yankees...I guess, the conclusion is that Giants/Patriots was much easier to watch than this upcoming Yankees/Phillies game...the fact that the Giants/Patriots game already happened while the Yankees/Phillies game is yet to happened, I guess that plays a part on people decisions....and also the fact that football is only a couple of weeks and that the Giants/Jets face each other every 4 years add to the fact that both teams play in Jersey...while in baseball Yankees and Mets play each other every year and they are actually located in NY makes the rivalry more intense.

I am actually a Mets Fan, and Giants Fan..But it definately is easier for em to root for the Yankees because baseball is my third favorite sport behind Basketball and Football. So The super Bowl was a no-brainer for me, and I just hate the Phillies alot more, I find myself to be in the minority when it comes to allegiances. I picked them up from my dad who is a Knicks/Mets/Giants fan.

Why is it? If you follow the law of being a NY sports fan, you want a Subway series every year in NYC, so that the sports titles remain in NY. And since the other NY team is going against a rival team of yours, you want the other NY team to win. Well, that is my take on it. I don't see the Jets/Giants or Mets/Yankees really even rivals, unless they get to the championship game/series. It isn't like basketball or hockey, where you play your other local team throughout the regular season.

I have no problem rooting for the Giants..I actually like them when they're not playing the Jets. However, I hate the Skanks with every fiber of my being. Maybe it's because I'm more passionate about baseball than football.
