The Yankees and Mets both have interest in free-agent pitcher Kelvim Escobar, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Sherman added that Escobar could pitch in Venezuela soon to showcase his health.

He made just one start in 2009 for the Angels because of a shoulder injury.

I like his stuff, and if he comes on the cheap that is fine, but I jsut dont see him being healthy...

I wouldnt mind signing him with the hopes of him being in the bullpen or a 5th starter, but dont sign him with the intention of being the number 3 guy(although he does have that sort of stuff)
Move Randle and we are chip ready !

MLB.com - The Mets appear to be closing in on free-agent pitcher Kelvim Escobar.

A report out of Venezuela states that New York is close to an agreement with Escobar, who was injured for a majority of the 2009 season.

Escobar posted an 18-7 record and a 3.40 ERA in 30 starts in 2007.
