Official 2008 Offseason Thread

Post#1 » by KnickTerp12 » Tue Oct 9, 2007 4:38 am

It's over, Get over it.

Big Offseason for the Yankees

-Torre
-ARod (option)
-Posada
-Rivera
-Pettitte (option)
-Abreu (Team option)
-Clemens (DONE)

Who stays, who goes. Any FA pick-ups. Bullpen needs work with Joba moving to the rotation.

Next year might be a rebuilding year... but the last year in the stadium, maybe everyone comes back.

I hope we keep Posada, Rivera, Pettitte for sure. ARod I am indifferent about. Abreu I don't care for either. Goodbye Roger. We need help in the pen.

08 Rotation
Wang
Pettitte
Hughes
Chamberlain
Kennedy

The 2008 Lineup needs CONSISTENCY. No shuffling off DH, LF and 1b. That's how you never build chemistry. Set a lineup, use it everyday, and thats it. No one should walk in to the clubhouse and wonder if they are playing or not.

This is how cleveland beat us -- They stuck with their comfort level from the season and didn't shuffle around. CONSISTENCY is what lacked in the Yankees offense this post-season and can attribute to the lack of success and extended slumps this year for Damon/Matsui/Giambi/Betemit

not a Yanks fan, but i think it's awesome that your entire 08 rotation will all be home-grown guys, you gotta respect that.

big offseason for you guys, Clemens is definetely gone, maybe Abreu, Rivera and Posada too (definetely depending on whether or not Torre comes back). who do the Yankees have at catcher to replace Posada?

The only other catcher i know of besides Jorge is Jose Molina.

If Torre is gone it wouldn't be out of the question to see Jorge, Mo, and Pettitte follow him right out that door.

If Mo leaves, what do you guys think of making Joba the closer?

That's why I don't want to see Torre go, because he has the loyalty of many of our players.

^ Nice work on that thread Vinny. Def merge that here. I figured no one would see this because it was immediately stickied.

Doesn't it feel good to know that are rotation is set for next year if Pettitte comes back? I'd feel pretty confident with that rotation. Even if its not experienced, they will gain valuable experience.

I think that rotation can get us off to a hot start next year.
