Why is pitching 100 innings in relief "idiotic"? If the Yankees have as many young pitchers as they are proposing to have in their rotation (Hughes, Kennedy, possible Horne), you don't want them going really deep into games so you'd limit them, probably through pitch counts, to five or six innings depending on effectiveness. So even if you follow some modified Joba Rules, if you pitch him in two inning stints in 50 games, that's one every three days, then you get 100 innings easy. Is it likely a manager will pitch him like that, sure, but to call it idiotic without any reasoning to back up your claim is unproductive. mahalo
