Can Betimit play 2nd and SS?

Post#1 » by sully00 » Sun Mar 23, 2008 10:23 pm

It looks like Ensberg made the team, which is solid he is nice ball player. But can Wilson Betimit play 2nd and SS? I haven't seen that in his short time with the Yanks last season. It would seem to be a big mistake to carry both of these guys in place of a glove guy in the middle of the infield.

Betemit can play short and 2nd. He actually came up as a SS with the Braves.

Sure, but he won't have to. Maybe 1 or 2 innings in blow outs.

2B is supposed to be his worst position, but he can play short well.

He can play SS better than Jeter. He can also play 2B fairly well.

Given Jeter's knee issues and how atrocious his defense got last year, it's not a bad idea to make sure someone else on the team can play short.
