Rays are on pace to win 95 games.

Post#1 » by cmaff051 » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:33 pm

Can the Yankees catch up to the Rays?

They are 64-57 now with 41 games left.

To win 95 games, the Yankees would need to go 31-10 to finish off the season.

Is that possible?

Let's just assume that the Yankees don't catch up to the Rays, but attempt to win the wild card. Let's assume that will take 93 wins.

The Yankees would need to go 29-12 to finish off the season to reach 93 wins.

Can they do it?

No. The owner is already talking about next season, the team is letting their hitting woes creep into their fielding, the long injuries to Posada, Wang, Matsui, the stretches without A-Rod, Jeter, et. al. - it's all too much taken together. We fell too far behind. The season's over barring some miracle.

Even with Crawford and Longoria hurt. WE have to win games in order to catch up. I'm confident the Rays can play .500 ball until the playoffs and earn, at least, the wild card, but I don't care about that team, I care about ours - right now, ours sucks.

exactly, and lets say with the injuries the rays play less than .500 ball, I still think we won't catch them. 29-12 is huge for us, simply because we don't have pitching or hitting. Just think there are going to be at least 15 more outing from scrub pitchers that shut us down this year, a with our offense, we don't stand a chance..
