Juan Pierre?
Now that the Dodgers have resigned Manny, Pierre will be coming off the bench as a pinch runner, and a guy that will give others days off when they are injured or tired, I think we could pick him up for cheap to fill in as our CF. Im sure Torre would love to have Melky back, but we could possibly get him for less. What do you think about Juan Pierre as our 9 and sometimes 1 hitter and most of the time starting center fielder.

Re: Juan Pierre?
So basically you want to trade for a slower Brett Gardner with 3 years and 28.5 million left on his deal? -Jitpal

Re: Juan Pierre?
Plus Gardner at least showed the ability in his minor league career to get on base at a .389 clip

Re: Juan Pierre?
If you combined the arms of Juan Pierre and Johnny Damon, you still wouldn't equal that of the little leaguer that lives down the street.

What does Pierre bring that Gardner doesn't? Nothing.

Re: Juan Pierre?
I didnt realize that Gardner was a proven 280+ hitter? I mean, Gardners gonna be good but if you are expecting a .280 BA with 50+ steals then I think your getting ahead of yourselves. Gardner has the potential to do that but he probably wont.

Re: Juan Pierre?
Juan Pierre's like the prototypical empty batting average player. He has no power and his walk rate has gotten worse during his physical peak years (and wasn't all that great in the first place). Pierre's one good season was in 2004 and he's been a bench-caliber player at best since then. He's not a defensible pickup by any stretch of the imagination and i'm confident at least one of Melky or Gardner will be as good and probably better.
