ESPN NYC 1050 is reporting Red Sox offering Buchholtz as a centerpiece, 2 minor prospects, and the option of Masterson.
Smart. The Sox know there is limited talent on those two young prospects. They haven't showed the Sox what they had hoped. With the Yanks only 2.5 ahead, I'd say this is a smart play.
Do you think the Jays will bite? What about the Yanks?

Re: Red Sox going all in for Halladay...
I really don't understand why Buchholz has such a reputation as being a deal breaker here. I think it has more to do with the fact that he is Boston's only good pitching prospect who is ML ready, but I personally don't feel that he is as good as Hughes or Joba.
A package surrounding Buchholz, Masterson, and 2 other prospects (assuming they're decent or good prospects, haven't heard any names thrown around) would be a decent haul for Toronto. However, people are missing the value that Halladay has to a team who trades for him as they will be getting all of NEXT year as well before he hits free agency. That is why I think Toronto should look for more in return, especially from a team in their own division.
The Yankees won't bite, Montero is off limits and I don't see Hughes being moved. I doubt Cashman would give up Joba, Jackson, and Romine either, or at least I hope not. I've heard Toronto really like Jeremy Bleich but I doubt they like him all that much.
