Why did the Yanks stop running?

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Sun Aug 16, 2009 8:19 pm

Is it me or has the base stealing, hit and run gone south ever since Brett Gardner went on the DL?

To me, it's not so much the aggression but trying to distract the pitcher. It's an especially useful tool against young pitchers.

I'd just like us to put just a little bit more pressure on opposing pitchers. Don't let them get too comfortable.

I understand your feelings. Maybe they are resting the older legs. Obviously the team is winning at a great rate.
We are discussing no small matter, but how we ought to live.

We really don't have many base-stealers on this team. Besides, we've got a good enough lineup as to where I'd prefer not to give away outs via a caught stealing. Especially in front of Jeter, Damon, Tex and Arod..
