Fox sports is smoking some good crack...

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Tue Aug 25, 2009 4:55 pm

Any one read that OLD report by Fox news, the Yanks are reportedly interested in Jason Bay and/or Matt Holliday? There is NO WAY...NO CHANCE in HELL...that the Yanks are going to bite on two players who are proof the NL is a second class league.

The Yanks are interested in dropping the payroll as much as possible. I can see the Yanks possibly re-signing Damon to a one year deal. I think they will let Matsui go. I see them continuing to platoon Melky and Gardner till Austin Jackson is ready.

If the Yanks are interested in acquiring anything it's more pitching. Can never have enough of that.

I agree. I can see some interest in Holliday, but the way he is playing in St. Louis is going to make his price tag too much for my liking. I say we stick with a Damon/Jackson, Melky/Gardner/Jackson, Swisher/Melky/Jackson OF situation for next year. What to do with Matsui is up for debate, I would personally let him go. Before his power surge last week he was hitting .258 with 15 home runs, not exactly great production from your DH who can't offer help in the field or on the base paths. Posada, Damon, and eventually perhaps Montero can split the DH duty, which should help preserve the bodies of Posada/Damon. This will be even more possible considering Austin Jackson should be ready at some point next season. It will also give Girardi the opportunity to give guys like ARod or Jeter a few spot starts at DH to save them a little wear and tear as well. I think that would be the ideal situation.

They are better than some of the outfielders we have now...

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

I dunno i like Holliday. I think he would be perfect for this line up we have. But of course that price tag is what will determine it... i can see a 5/75 contract offer being justified... specially cause he goes opposite way a lot and the way RF plays at the stadium, well its HR haven. and he would give us a Power Threat from the right hand side [typically we have been left hand heavy] but anything more than that [5/75] would just be crazy IMO
