Would You Hit Utley Tomorrow?

Post#1 » by AirPaden » Tue Nov 3, 2009 5:53 pm

Do you think the Yankees should pitch Utley inside and actually hit him?

Ibanez was not the one who should have got hit. The Philly pitchers hit 2 of our best players/hitters 5 freakin times, taking them out of their game. Now it's time to turn the table, and make Utley unconfortable at the plate. He has to get hit at least one time! What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I say hit him, hopefully late in the game with Joba pitching. lol

Your thoughts.

Only if our plan is to start Gaudin, and then bring in Andy...

not really, we will be sending them home tomorrow, no need to hit him, he is so injury prone, we might put him out for a year... sending him home tomorrow with a L is satisfaction enough..

Don't worry all the hitting will go on next year during spring training....you best believe that this will be on the back of Joe's head and the rest of the yankee's pitchers..

I'd only do it in retaliation for what they've been doing to A-Rod. Honestly I don't get mad at opposing players for what they are doing against us, they're trying to win like we are. Its just that Utley is doing more for his team than any other player in this series.

They are making a point to pitch A-Rod inside to keep him from extending his arms, I honestly do not think they mean to hit him. That said this is baseball, you NEED to retaliate or they will continue to pitch us inside.

You find their best player and you beam him simple as that.

Like it or not that's baseball. A pitcher has to protect his players, and they protect him by providing runs and support in the field.

No question.... hit him.

utley is the type of dude who tries to get hit.. so hitting him is not going to affect his comfort level at the plate

just dont pitch him in period(or at least not consistently like youd try to do to others), you miss inside with a fastball and he is taking you deep, thats his hot spot he has extremely quick wrists and most of his power is down the right field line

Revenge plunking is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and childish enough on its own. But giving people free bases in the World Series is just an indefensibly bad strategy.
