I always liked Melky but this a great deal, Vazquez is a very good 3rd or 4th starter.

It does not matter if Javy's ERA jumps a full run or run and a half. He is a virtual guarentee to throw 200 innings next year. It's all he's done his entire career. Eat innings. And in a rotation with A.J. Burnett and a Hughes that has an innings limit, that is invaluable.

I love this trade. Love it. And maybe we'll get a contract year performance from Javy. I just hope we can keep A.J. healthy this year, because if we can, we have 4 guys that can potentially go 200 innings. Haven't had that in a while.

I've always liked Vazquez. He's simply a horse, and can strike out 200 batters a year, there aren't many like him in the league. The Yankees rotation looks deadly.

Sabathia
Burnett
Vazquez
Pettite
Joba/Hughes?

I LOVE this move. I said last week in a thread i wanted the yankees to trade for him again. Although i thought it would take swisher to do so.

Ibet he gets 18 wins this year

Vazquez has always had great stuff but the big question with him was whether he had the mental toughness to handle pressure situations. He really didn't see much of it last season in Atlanta and he did have his toughness questioned by Ozzie Guillen in 2008 while with the White Sox.

None the less, Cabrera really has always been more of a nice 4th OF'er for a team like the Yanks so they're not necessarily losing much here.

So yeah, kinda hard to knock it until there's cause for knocking it (if ever).

vazquez was very well the first half, then his shoulder got hurt and he didnt tell anyone...his first year with us....then he got traded for randy, a move by ownership and not cashman

he isnt a #1, but hes a damn good #3-4, when people see this, they'll like him

personally i dont care about ozzie, look at what he said bout swish, and he fits well here

Agreed, people like Cabrera are easily replaceable. Yankees really don't give up anything here. They just need to sign another outfielder (Damon?) and they're set.
