Agreed. Signing Damon would be huge for several reasons. First, he's just a better player then any other LF on the market. 2nd, the value the Yankees get out of this deal would be great compared to what he was looking to get/offered earlier in the off-season. Third, If (when) Nick Johnson goes down Damon will be a pretty big insurance player to put in the DH spot and just put Gardner in LF. Last, signing Damon would give the Yankees a great pinch runner and defensive replacement late in games (especially for the playoffs). They aren't in the position where they NEED Damon, but adding him (especially at 1 year 6-8 million) certainly wouldn't hurt.
