After two straight thrashings at the hands of the scrappy Jays, the fans have to wonder what's going on with the Yankees? Despite the team leading the lead in runs scored and not too shabby in runs allowed, their differential is irrefutable. Yet, there is panic among the fans after Tampa reclaimed first. Let's roll the clock back shall we?
The Yanks had 42L in the loss column and only 1.5 games ahead of Boston. Today, they have two less losses and 1 game behind Tampa who is presently thrashing the Twins.
Do the Yanks need another big bat, say an Adam Dunn? One wonders IF A-Rod will EVER return to be the player he was last season. Teixiera and jeter are having off season.
Another concern is the Yanks failing to get Cliff Lee. Now, Pettitte's health is a concern, Hughes can't get a W, and AJ can't seem to get it together.
The Yanks are still the top dog in the League, it's just the pacing that is disagreeable. Still I like the look of the final two months and the Yanks chances....the KEY is staying healthy.

Time to dump the vets and bring in some young talent. No offense to Jeter and Posada, but it's probably time to relegate them to the bench?

Huh? Posada is still one of the best offensive catchers in the game (2nd higest OPS of any AL catcher w/ more than 250 PAs) and as mediocre as Jeter has been this year, there's absolutely no internal or readily-available external option to play short.
A bad week (that ends with them still having the best record in the majors) and people start talking about dumping the vets and going with a youth movement? Jesus...

I am not opposed to platooning Posada and Cervelli. Posada's beatings behind the plate are taking their toll. You can't take a switch hitter out of the conversation when you have the DH spot available. Posada provides veteran leadership.
Jeter is the more baffling statement. Yes, his ability to cover his area of the diamond has been limited especially this season. I'm not going to quibble about his bat. Still, his arm and baseball smarts work for me. If Jeter finishes hitting .280, I think he's solid.
Keep in mind, in post roids era, you'd KILL for a guy to hit .280 @ his age.

lol Yankee fans.
Ya just came off a WS title, and are one of the favorites this year. Not to mention, the team has been in cruise-control, yet STILL in the divison race. Let alone, the fact Petitte will be back soon. Us Mets fans, would kill to have your troubles.
