tbh, cole screwing us to UCLA really stunned me and its an smh moment....not only was a top of the staff talent, he would also be a valuable trade asset

I asked Billy Eppler about this and lets just say there weren't many kind words said about what happened. Long story short, Damon and Billy went out to meet him and offer him a deal and the Cole family REFUSED to even speak with them.....

Lets just say Cole would probably be in AAA and on the cusp of the big league's right now if he had signed but in the end, as much as it pains me to say it, he might have made a good decision, depending on how he does this year. College Experience, which comeon, is one of the best times of your life, instead of riding a minor league bus all over the world. He pitched in the College World Series in front of 20k+ people and on ESPN, and he is right now in position to be a top 3 pick and a bonus in comparison to what the Yanks were willing to offer (roughly 4-6 mil). Add in he will probably start in AA and could get a MLB deal, he might have actually made the right choice. Although everything has gone right for this kid, 9/10 this isn't the story for players who make this choice.

"im contracted by the yankees with a multi million deal" should be able to get him ladies anywhere he goes, no?

Really? A guy who can write empty checks and take ZERO consequences if it fails. His ability to farm only ONE pro pitcher isn't questionable? You guys are making Ed Wade look like a genius.

Guys let's be fair...

Jon Lester & Clay Buchholtz may or may not be front line pitchers but they don't have to be for the Sawx to win. They can be #3 and #4 while the Yanks have devoted 1-3 (keep in mind AJ was signed to be the #2 starter) to a ridiculous sum (assuming they get Lee)...and even so, Lester and Buchholtz are good enough to match up against Pettitte and hughes.

But let's go by your rationale that they aren't...Much like Justin Masterson, the Sawx can package them for a BIGGER piece of the puzzle.

What did the Yankees get for Ian Kennedy? Is Joba worth ANYTHING right now?

The ability to see/scout/harnass scouting pitching REDUCES your payroll significantly because at the end of the day come playoff time, putting up zeroes is a PRICEY commodity when the home run ball goes away.

Again, since 1990...ONE. In the tenure of Brian Cashman approximately 10 years...ONE.

And you CAN'T ignore that on Cash money. I mean, can we ignore Isiah Thomas' choices or Omar Minaya or ANY GM in NYC? Absolutely not.

In fact, outside of Glen Sather I don't know any other GM who gets more of a break...

its not cashmans fault espn analysts and gammons are red sox fans and are used as puppets to prop up the overrated RS prospects in potential trades

for not buying off the media, yes i agree, we can all criticize cashman for that
