That's what I've been saying. Webb only wants a one year deal to prove he can command top dollar.

It's low risk, high reward but for some reason, Cashman & Hal don't want the guy. Atlanta has a good chance of landing this guy along with Texas.

They don't want him because he is coming off 2 years o not pitching and in Instructional League this past fall he was sitting at 80-82. Yes, David Robertsons curveball comes in harder then that.

Moocow just repeated what I had stated about a week ago and I think it would be a decent gamble since Rothschild is now our pitching coach. No reason to rush and trade for him now though, a lot of things happen between march-july, some teams fall out of contention and some players have bad seasons, we have A LOT of flexibility due to our farm system and huge amount of cash to spend.

Ugh 80-82 mph. That sucks...I love Webb's competitive spirit. I just think he needs time to build up his arm strength but I can see now why the Yanks had no interest...at the same time I'm thinking, well what did you expect?

+1
It reminds me of the Lebron situation where I don't think either guy had the guts or heart to play in the Big Apple. Hopefully AJ will have a bounce back year and Andy gives us one more year because we are very thin after CC

Exactly. Not every player is enamored with playing in NYC. Heed the lesson of Roger Maris in '61 when you do something extraordinary all eyes are on you. Every thing is under the microscope in NYC. One minute you can't do no wrong and the next you can't do anything right. It takes brass cajones to really want to play here.

Hey, I am not going to hate on Cliff Lee for going to the less competitive NL. Think about the Giants beat the Phillies and Rangers. Giants went 10 days Prior without scoring more than 4 runs.

When Lee is on, he's unhittable. When he's off, he's dreadful. Still not a fan of that contract the Yanks prepared.

I wouldn't mind Chris Capuano either. I don't know if the Yanks have interest, but he's a lefty and has pretty decent career numbers, and he was pretty solid down the stretch for the Brewers last year.

One idea that I liked was SI predictions...Chris Carpenter possibly being on the trade block at mid season. If the deal is right, the Yanks could use him much like they used Neagle in the late 90s to give them a boost.

One thing I am not a fan of, Cashman prematurely going after Blanton and Freddy Garcia.

Am I the only one that wants no part of Blanton? 1. He Sucks. 2. His contract sucks. 3. I don't like the idea of helping Philly get Cliff Lee. and 4. He and his contract suck. -Jitpal

Apparently not...however, one thing I thought the Yanks could look into is a one year deal for Vlad. Yanks could use some depth on the bench. I know Posada is a DH-C but let's face it, Vlad is STILL a force on a line up like the Yanks.

Yanks interested in Justin Duchscherer. I think that would be a low risk pick-up. If healthy, he has really good stuff and could pitch as a starter or out of the pen.

Duchscherer was someone the Red Sox was interested in but I know he had some mental health problems that shut him down for a bit 1-2 seasons ago. I hope the Yanks don't take Bonderman. All comes down to whether or not Pettitte comes back.

I don't like any of the free agent options left on the table for the Yankees but if I had to pick one from the trash heap I would pick Bonderman. He sucks but of all the bums left on the market he's the one that has actually had real success in the league for a time.

With Pettitte not coming back, the Yankees starting rotation is CC, Phil and pray for rain. Larry Rothschild is going to have to work miracles with the likes of Burnett, Nova and whoever else the Yankees pick up off the scrap heap. The fact that they offered Pavano a deal (reportedly 1 year, 7 million) shows how desperate they are.
