For once, I'm rooting for the Cubs to...

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Sat Aug 20, 2011 8:40 pm

....throw ridiculous money at Brian Cashman and get him out of the Yankees organization but it's not Christmas time.

I loved Cashman's comment...I ran it through the sports equivalent of the universal translator, "I'd really like to leave NYC but I'd never have the resources to cover up the embarrassing contracts I've signed in Pavano, Igawa, and Burnett...nor would I EVER have to worry about declining attendance. So I'll stay in NYC for now."

Danny DeVito once said in the adapted version of the play Other People's Money, "I don't like lawyers but they are nuclear missiles. Whoever has the most...wins." that's pretty much who the Steinbrenner brothers rely on.

Cashman is a good lawyer but he's garbage when it comes to evaluating talent...I don't know what he saw in those three pitchers. Never mind I don't know who caved and thought A-rod was worth 300M after he "loyally" opted out.

He and Levine are absolute scumbags...

Stops protecting the farm?

For years Yankee fans wished for a GM\Owneship that would stop raping the farm and trading top prospects for over the hill players.

I agree Cashman should baby the farm less, but I remember the days when McGriff and McGee got traded for the likes of Bob Shirely etc.

I like the past 10 years better than that era.

The past 10 yrs have produced 1 WS and a 200+ payroll.

Protecting the farm? That's funny. I don't remember any one missing ANY of the prospects or players when Gene Stick Michel traded for Paul O'Neil, Tino Martinez, and Scott Brosius...

a team that yielded FOUR WS and FIVE appearances....

What player exactly do the Yankees miss right now in a trade? Tabata? MAYBE...Granderson has proven trading Jackson hasn't proven to be ANY loss...

Jus STOP...STOP...

I'm pretty sure that Cashman was the GM that traded for Brosius. I was also under the impression that Cashman was not really interested in resigning ARod after he opted out. Cashman has made plenty of mistakes, but I think that anyone who has the budget that the Yankees have and can throw around the money like the Yankees can will make some mistakes. I also have no problems with holding onto our prospects. Cashman has shown a willingness to trade young players in the right deal. He moved for Granderson which looks like a great deal now. He was also willing to move Montero for Lee last year. Cashman hasn't been great, but he hasn't been as bad as you say either IMO.
All-Time Draft

PG- Oscar Robertson/Bob Cousy
SG- Earl Monroe/James Harden/Dana Barros
SF- Billy Cunningham/Michael Finley/Chet Walker
PF- Elvin Hayes/Dolph Schayes/Tom Chambers/Danny Manning
C- Walt Bellamy/Neil Johnston/Darryl Dawkins

Return to New York Yankees
