you either pony up 4 prospects or give up 100 mil to get a starter

its that simple, there is no buying on the cheap

Cash would answer, "My grand design is to have a Yankee team that wins a WS without a lux tax..." unfortunately that won't happen within our life time.

As for Gio, nice pitcher but guy who is more of a #3 or 4 due to his walks.

im not saying i wanted gio

but its obvious yankees are in denial

the new marketplace dictates around 100 mill for FA, or 4 prospects via trade

NY hasnt accepted that yet

The Gio trade was far too much for my personal liking. Plus I dont trust when Billy Beane just decides to trade off players. Something is up.

That and the fact I wouldn't do a trade centered around one or both of the Killer B's for him. King Felix, yes. Gio Gonzaelez, nope.

Well the talk is that Cashman is not infatuated with any of this offseasons crop of starters and instead is banking the money for a run at either Cole Hamels or Matt Cain next offseason. Was on MLB Network and also mentioned on YES. Said that either guy could likely get $20 million per and that Cashman, Epstein and Ben Cherington all are believed to be zoning in on one of these guys should they reach free agency in a years time. YES group believed that Hamels would be the better choice since he's viewed as more talented and more proven pitching in Philly than Cain. YES group also agreed that David Robertson is the heir apparent to Mariano. Mentioned that Robertson was the best reliever in baseball last season (100 SO in 66 IN with a 1.80 ERA pitching in the AL East for the Yankees). Hamels has that look that I think would get him plenty of opportunities to make money beyond what the Yankees will throw at him if he were to play in NY.
