Pete Rose was once nicknamed "Charlie Hustle" and by the time I saw him play, he was benched in the 1983 WS when the Phillies got spanked against the Baltimore O's. So I never quite saw Pete in his prime...
For me, Derek Jeter is the Charlie Hustle baseball of today.
I still don't think Jeter will make it to even 4,000...get this feeling he won't stick around after that contract is up.
But it's hard not to think "what if"
What if Jeter did stick around for 6 more seasons...Could he do it?

Re: Rethinking Jeter and Pete Rose...
he could but I think he moves on to other stuff after this contract
the way he seems acting lately, he seems at peace with himself and very calm and loose
with all the $ he has, I see him going to some team ownership route

No way, Jeter said not a long ago that he feels great and can see himself playing another 5+ years. He has a legit chance of catching Rose barring any major injury.
